Change is on the Horizon
Feb 26, 2025
With the arrival of spring, change is in the air—no exception here at Amani.
I’ll start with the bad news. We are discontinuing our fragrance, Zanzibar Spice. I know, I know—some of you will be really disappointed; my daughter is certainly feeling let down. This scent has been with us since the early days of Amani and is beloved by many, so this was far from an easy decision. The original Zanzibar Spice fragrance was discontinued by its manufacturer several years ago. I was able to get it duplicated but the new version is notoriously finicky. In soap, it tends to seize, meaning the soap batter thickens almost instantly. This results in not only a less-than-beautiful product but also increased waste. Furthermore, it discolors wax and lotion—purely an aesthetic issue, but not the most appealing. I tried for months to revise my techniques but it would not behave. I strive to be as sustainable as possible in every part of our product-making process, and this level of waste isn’t beneficial for the business or the planet. Thus, it is time to part ways…So if you are a lover of this fragrance, now is the time to stock up. While supplies last, all Zanzibar products are 40% off!
However, there’s exciting new news as well! We are thrilled to announce that Lemon Verbena & Thyme, which has previously been a seasonal scent, will now become a permanent part of the Amani collection. This fragrance is so bright, fresh, and clean—think of it as an Italian vacation in a bar of soap. Picture yourself strolling through narrow streets, getting just a little sunburned (but not too much), and sipping wine at a restaurant with a view of the water. Of course, this soap can’t transport you to Italy (I wish!), but it can evoke that same dreamy feeling. Look for Lemon Verbena & Thyme in candles, wax melts, and a new goat’s milk soap!
Goat’s milk soap is fantastic for the skin, as it contains fatty acids and lipids like caprylic acid, which moisturize and leave your skin feeling incredibly soft. It also contains lactic acid, an alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) found in many skincare products for its exfoliating benefits. The lactic acid in goat’s milk is just enough to leave skin softer and brighter without irritation. In fact, goat’s milk is particularly loved by those with eczema for its soothing, anti-inflammatory properties. This soap is not yet ready but we will let you know as soon as it is!
Another change: our GRATITUDE candle, which was previously scented with Zanzibar Spice, will now feature the Lemon Verbena & Thyme scent. It’s a more cheerful fragrance, filling your home with the uplifting spirit of spring cleaning. This candle evokes the same joy and sense of relief you feel when the snow finally melts and you can tuck your heavy coat away for the season. I believe it’s the perfect match for GRATITUDE.
These changes will take some time to roll out: we are printing new labels and the soap will need to cure, so keep your eyes peeled over the next month or so.
